HDNET MOVIES UNLEASHES A THREE-PACK OF QUENTIN TARANTINO CLASSICS AND A MARATHON OF MERYL STREEP FAVORITES DEC. 5 AND 12

The Blocks Include Tarantino’s ‘RESERVOIR DOGS’ and ‘KILL BILL’ Vols. 1 & 2 and Streep in ‘OUT OF AFRICA,’ ‘MUSIC OF THE HEART’ and More

Los Angeles – Nov. 13, 2015 – HDNET MOVIES puts the spotlight on two of Hollywood’s most influential modern icons, with the Quentin Tarantino and Meryl Streep movie marathons on Saturday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 12, respectively. Boasting a combined total of five Oscar® wins between them, these blocks will span across Tarantino and Streep’s extensive film careers, highlighting acclaimed early works, ambitious passion projects, and the films that helped forever cement their roles as Hollywood heavyweights.

The event kicks off on Dec. 5 at 7pE, with an epic three-pack dedicated to celebrated auteur Quentin Tarantino. The night opens with KILL BILL Vol. 1, starring Uma Thurman as Beatrix Kiddo, a woman whose life is turned upside down when her lover, Bill (David Carradine), and his lethal posse (Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen, Vivica A. Fox, and Lucy Liu) leave her pregnant and dying in Texas. Four years later, Kiddo awakens from a coma, and sets out on a bloody quest for revenge. Kiddo’s carnage continues in KILL BILL Vol. 2 at 9pE, as she uses deadly Kung Fu to take on brutal blonde Elle Driver (Hannah) and Bill’s brother Budd (Madsen). With the trail closing in on Bill, Kiddo must come to grips with conflicting feelings of love and hate, as well as a shocking revelation she never saw coming.

Tarantino’s star-studded directorial debut, RESERVOIR DOGS, brings the evening to a close at 11:30pE. Pulling triple-duty, Tarantino writes, directs, and co-stars in this 1992 thriller, featuring Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, and Harvey Keitel as criminals whose perfect heist goes horribly wrong. With the cops on their tail and a rat in their midst, tensions quickly bubble over, sending the group into a frenzy of paranoia.

HDNET MOVIES honors beloved actress, and three-time Oscar®-winner, Meryl Streep in four of her finest films, on Dec. 12. The day begins at 5pE when Streep gives up everything to fund a floundering music program for inner-city children in the 1999 drama MUSIC OF THE HEART, horror maestro Wes Craven’s first and only departure from the genre. Then, Streep stars as a New York City therapist thrust into an awkward situation when she discovers her 23-year-old son is dating her patient, Uma Thurman, a 37-year-old divorcee with intimacy issues, in the unconventional romance PRIME, at 7:15pE.

The evening continues at 9:05pE with Streep as a rafting instructor whose relaxing getaway becomes a fight for survival when armed robbers Kevin Bacon and John C. Reilly take her family hostage in THE RIVER WILD, with David Strathairn. Next, Streep encounters hardship and heartbreak when she moves from Denmark to the Sahara in Sydney Pollack’s 1985 Best Picture-winning period piece OUT OF AFRICA, with Robert Redford, at 11pE.
