Los Angeles – February 26, 2018 – HDNET MOVIES presents an explosive programming lineup this March headlined by Tough Guy Tuesdays, putting the spotlight on cinema’s greatest action icons every week at 9pE, all month long. The block kicks off on March 6 with Viggo Mortensen in the 2007 David Cronenberg thriller EASTERN PROMISES, followed by Michael Caine in HARRY BROWN at 10:45pE; and also includes a double dose of Dolph Lundgren in SILENT TRIGGER and HIDDEN ASSASSIN (March 13); Chuck Norris and David Carradine in LONE WOLF MCQUADE, and Lundgren again in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (March 20); and a pair of sci-fi action epics starring Kurt Russell in SOLDIER, and Jean-Claude Van Damme and Lundgren in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER (March 27).
HDNET MOVIES celebrates beloved Oscar®-winning leading man Robert Redford with a The A-List lineup highlighting three of his most acclaimed films on Tuesday, March 19. The night opens at 7:05pE with Redford as a charismatic novice whose run for Office shakes up the establishment in the political farce THE CANDIDATE, with Peter Boyle. Then, Redford and Dustin Hoffman shine as groundbreaking investigative journalists Woodward and Bernstein, whose efforts brought the infamous Watergate scandal to light, in the multiple Oscar®-winning film ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN at 9pE. And politics drives an impenetrable wedge between lovers Redford and Barbra Streisand in the emotional 1973 drama THE WAY WE WERE, which won the Academy Awards® for best original score and song, at 11:20pE.
HDNET MOVIES pays tribute to “The King Of Cool,” Steve McQueen, with a special birthday four-pack on Saturday, March 24—what would have been McQueen’s 88th Birthday. The evening begins at 6:50pE, with McQueen as a prisoner forced to rob a bank in exchange for his freedom in Sam Peckinpah’s THE GETAWAY. Next, McQueen and Dustin Hoffman plot a great escape from a brutal island prison in PAPILLON at 9pE; and McQueen teams up with Yul Brenner, James Coburn, Charles Bronson, and Robert Vaughn to take down a posse of bandits in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN at 11:35pE. The night comes to a close with McQueen as a legendary gunfighter wrongly accused of murder in the 1980 Western biopic TOM HORN, with Linda Evans, at 1:45aE.
