HDNET MOVIES CELEBRATES JOHN WAYNE’S BIRTHDAY MAY 26 IN THE “SALUTE THE DUKE” MARATHON, FEATURING ‘RIO BRAVO’ AND ‘THE SEARCHERS,’ STARTING AT 3:40pE

The Career-Spanning Six-Film Lineup Also Includes Wayne in JET PILOT, CHISUM, THE CONQUEROR, and DONOVAN’S REEF

Los Angeles – May 12, 2016 – Celebrate Western icon John Wayne’s birthday Thursday, May 26 with HDNET MOVIES, as the network presents the “Salute The Duke” marathon on starting at 3:40pE. The six-film lineup kicks off with The Duke as an Air Force ace on an escort mission in JET PILOT, with Janet Leigh. Then, Wayne’s small town sheriff gathers a ragtag posse to bring a villainous rancher to justice in the Howard Hawks hit RIO BRAVO, with Dean Martin, at 5:35pE.

Next, at 8pE, The Duke teams up with legendary outlaw Billy the Kidd to take down a greedy land-grabber in CHISUM; and rules with an iron fist as the mighty Genghis Khan in THE CONQUEROR, with Susan Hayward and Agnes Moorehead, at 9:55pE. The night comes to a close with a pair of John Ford classics, starring Wayne as a Civil War veteran who rides out to rescue his niece from Comanche raiders in THE SEARCHERS at 11:50pE; followed by Wayne as an unruly American expatriate who falls for his best friend’s daughter in DONOVAN’S REEF, with Lee Marvin and Jack Warden, at 1:55aE.
