Featured Films During the Preview Include ‘The Hurt Locker,’ ‘There Will Be Blood,’ ‘Platoon,’ ‘When Harry Met Sally’ and More In Primetime
Los Angeles – Feb. 19, 2016 – DIRECTV HD subscribers will receive HDNET MOVIES for free Feb. 22 to 28 as a part of DIRECTV’s free preview of their “HD Extra Pack.” During the free preview week, the high definition movie network will feature a number of must-see films in primetime, such as THE HURT LOCKER, THERE WILL BE BLOOD and PLATOON.
As the DIRECTV free preview week kicks off Monday, Feb. 22, HDNET MOVIES presents a Coen Brothers film marathon featuring BARTON FINK at 6pE, THE HUDSUCKER PROXY at 8pE and RAISING ARIZONA at 9:55pE. Then, Thursday, Feb. 25 is “Date Night” as the network runs through a line-up of beloved rom-coms starting at 4:05pE with the 1993 adaptation of the Shakespeare classic MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, followed by Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn in OVERBOARD at 6pE, Rob Reiner’s contemporary classic WHEN HARRY MET SALLY at 8pE and British comedy NOTTING HILL with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts at 9:40pE
Friday night, Feb. 26, HDNET MOVIES treats viewers to a trio of Oscar®-winning films with 2010 Best Picture-winner THE HURT LOCKER at 8pE, followed by Daniel Day-Lewis’ 2008 Best Actor-winning performance in THERE WILL BE BLOOD at 10:15pE, and capped off by 1987 Best Picture-winner PLATOON at 1aE.
HDNET MOVIES wraps up the DIRECTV preview week by honoring film legends Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood on Feb. 27 and 28, respectively. First up on Saturday, Feb. 27 is Hanks in BIG at 8pE and THE MONEY PIT at 9:45pE; then, on Sunday, Feb. 28, Eastwood directs and stars in PALE RIDER at 8pE and THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES at 10pE.
